Biography

Associate Professor Simona Grad, MD, PhD, is a specialist in gastroenterology and internal medicine with expertise in digestive endoscopy and ultrasonography. Since 2009, she has held a teaching position at Iuliu Hațieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy, where she combines academic work with extensive clinical practice. She is currently active in the Second Medical Department and serves as Head of the Endoscopy Unit in Cluj-Napoca. Dr. Grad is a founding member of the Romanian Society of Neurogastroenterology and a member of both the Romanian Society of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and the European Society of Neurogastroenterology and Motility. Her scientific and clinical interests include functional digestive disorders, gut microbiota, inflammatory bowel diseases, chronic hepatitis, and digestive endoscopy. She has authored numerous publications in the fields of functional gastrointestinal disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, and Helicobacter pylori infection. In addition to her academic and clinical contributions, Dr. Grad is actively involved in clinical trials, international collaborations such as the TOGAS project, and the organization of national and international congresses and workshops. She is also a frequent invited speaker at scientific meetings and received the Award of Excellence for initiative and performance in medical academic education in 2010.
