Biography

Masaki Shintani is a Professor at Shizuoka University, Japan, specializing in microbial ecology, plasmid biology, and environmental microbiology. His research focuses on the diversity, evolution, and ecological roles of plasmids and mobile genetic elements. He has led multiple national and international collaborative projects and is actively developing a Japan-originated plasmid database that integrates historical knowledge with modern genomic approaches.
