Ken-ichi Yoshida earned his MSc (1989) and PhD (1993) from Kyoto University, began his academic career at Fukuyama University (1990), and held a postdoctoral fellowship at INRA, France (1996–97). He joined Kobe University in 2004, becoming Professor of Applied Microbiology in 2009. His honors include the Young Scientists’ Prize (2002), awards from JSBBA (2008, 2014), JBA (2006), NAGASE Foundation (2009), and the Hyogo Science Prize (2023). He served at MEXT (2005–07), as FEMS Ambassador (2019–), and held leadership roles at Kobe University Brussels European Centre (2013–19, 2022–23) and the Centre for EU Academic Collaboration (2019–23). He is currently Deputy Dean of the Graduate School of Science, Technology and Innovation (2024–).
