Biography

Dr Danka Matijašević is Assistant Research Professor at the Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering (IMGGE), University of Belgrade. She has extensive experience in the isolation and characterization of bioactive compounds from natural sources, particularly fungi, with potential applications in food safety, infection control and medicine. She is especially interested in exploring the antibacterial and antibiofilm activities of mushroom extracts against multidrug-resistant bacterial pathogens. Her research involves evaluating the antimicrobial effects of mushroom extracts using microbiological, microscopic and molecular approaches, with emphasis on processes associated with bacterial virulence and biofilm formation. She is the author of more than 50 publications in domestic and international journals and conferences.
