Dr. Bojana Bogovič Matijašić is a Senior Research Fellow and Head of the Institute of Dairy Science and Probiotics at the University of Ljubljana, Biotechnical Faculty. With over 35 years of experience in dairy microbiology and microbiome studies, her research focuses on lactic acid bacteria, bacteriocins, resistomes, probiotics, postbiotics, gut microbiota, and molecular methods in food and probiotic science. She has led and contributed to numerous national and international research projects, including interdisciplinary initiatives on whey valorisation and bacteriocin functionality. Her work spans bioprocessing, safety assessment, functional characterization of LAB, and clinical and food-related microbiome studies. She is the author of more than 90 scientific papers, several book chapters, and patents, and serves as an invited lecturer, mentor, reviewer, and editor.
