Biography
M.D. Aleksandra Šmitran was born in Banja Luka, where she graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and started working as a teaching assistant since 2002. Master’s degree and PhD thesis completed at the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade, Serbia. She have participated in several national and international congresses and have also served as a lecturer in sessions of continuing medical education. Her scientific field focuses on investigating the antimicrobial activity of unusual organic and inorganic substances against planktonic forms of bacteria, as well as bacteria within biofilms. Recently, she has also been involved in research investigating the relationship between the human microbiome and diseases in humans.
