Biography

Prof. Aleksandra Martinović holds two PhD degrees from the University of Belgrade and the Norwegian University of Life Sciences in food biotechnology and molecular microbiology. Her work spans molecular food microbiology, food quality, and safety, alongside extensive leadership in international research and policy programs. She has served as a national lead researcher for food consumption studies for the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and as an expert consultant for international organizations including UN FAO and UNDP, advising on food safety and nutrition. She is a Dean of the Faculty of Food Technology, Food Safety, and Ecology at the University of Donja Gorica and the Director of the Centre of Excellence- FoodHub. Her work focuses on food safety risk assessment, antimicrobial resistance, advanced pathogen detection, and traditional food standardization. In 2024, she was elected Best Scientist of Montenegro and became an Honorary Member of the Arizona State University–Cintana Alliance.
