Biography

Dr. Aleksandra Jelušić is a Research Associate at the Department of Life Sciences, University of Belgrade – Institute for Multidisciplinary Research, National Institute of the Republic of Serbia. Her research focuses on plant pathology and applied microbiology. She studies bacterial plant pathogens affecting economically important crops, with a particular emphasis on their isolation, identification, and molecular characterization. A major part of her work is dedicated to developing environmentally friendly disease management strategies through the use of beneficial bacterial strains as biocontrol agents. She also investigates plant responses to biotic stress caused by plant pathogenic bacteria, including the activation of plant defense mechanisms and recovery following the application of biocontrol agents. She participated in several national and international research projects and recently served as the PI of the XanthoSTOP project funded by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia, focusing on the biological control of Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris in cabbage.
