Steffen is a biotechnologist with a strong passion for microbial metabolism and synthetic biology. He leads the Lindlich Lab at the Institute of Biochemistry, where he and his team work on rewiring microbial metabolism to enable sustainable, nextgeneration bioproduction, spanning growthcoupled metabolic engineering, in vivo enzyme engineering, and innovative metabolic pathways for the emerging C1bioeconomy. What drives his work is the unique combination of designing and building synthetic metabolic solutions with the potential to make a real impact on how we produce materials more sustainably.
